Projects - Overview of Workflow Projects
General information
A project is a term given to a workflow process of your work
environment. The workflow project may consist of tasks,
deliveries and notifications, time slip tracking, resource
assignment, due date and performance tracking, contact notes,
and budget information.
A project can be used for any workflow process; small or
large, easy or complex. The following lists some common
examples of workflow projects: 1040 Tax Return Preparation
project, Employee Performance Review project, Employee
Attendance Calendar project, Client Fact Finder (specific
niche) project, Update Client Directory project, Send
Newsletter project, or even a Plant Watering Schedule
Reminder project.
An easy analogy may be to think of a project as the process
you follow when you bake a cheesecake for a specific event.
For instance, you can use the same recipe (template) to bake
the dessert for your company's Cuisine Showcase event
(project), or when you participate in a local Arts and
Culture Dessert Connoisseur Club (another project using the
same template). The recipe provides you with the necessary
information and proper sequence of steps to efficiently
complete your project. Same recipe (template) but a different
project.
From template or from scratch
A project may be started from a predefined project template
or from scratch.
Starting a project using a pre-defined project template means
that you choose to use a template that already contains the
details, tasks, actions, and other associated work for the
project. The work is already done for you. Pre-defined
templates can be modified.
Using project templates is a time saving step for starting a
project for a workflow process.
Starting a project from scratch means that while in the Start
Project screen you choose to enter all of the details, tasks,
actions, and other associated work for the project. You
design the workflow process from start to finish--from
scratch.
