Projects - Overview of Project Templates
A project template is a predefined shell that can be used
when starting a new workflow project. This shell contains
those tasks and associated actions that are pertinent to a
specific workflow process. You can reuse this shell each time
you need to start a new project.
Think of a template as your recipe for cheesecake. This
recipe includes the ingredients and steps necessary for a
successful dessert. You can use this recipe (template) over
and over again.
Ready-to-use workflow templates are available for a variety
of workflow processes common to your industry. New templates
can be created or existing templates can be modified. The
flexibility to customize templates is always available to you
in WorkflowManager.
While creating project templates is as easy as entering data
in the Project Template screen, the effectiveness of your
workflow project management is directly related to the design
of your template. That is the main reason template creation
is considered an advanced feature of WorkflowManager. We
strongly recommend that you become familiar with all of the
data input screens before creating a new template. Tasks are
the backbone of a project or project template, and actions
that are created for a task or project help automate your
workflow process and allow you to realize greater
efficiencies.
