Projects - General Information Tab
The general information screen collects the basic
information of a project, a project template, or a
task.
- Enter the following in the general information
screen:
- The task, project, or project template name used for
display on the task and project lists.
- The task, project, or project template description used
for display when viewing details of a task or project.
- The assignment of the task to either an individual or
group for resource allocation. (tasks only)
- The estimated hours required for completion of the
task. This information is an integral part of project
management and resource balancing. (tasks only)
- The status field is read-only and is determined by your
assignment of the task in the Assignment tab and by work
progress on the task. (tasks only)
- The priority level of the task designates the
precedence in rank for the completion of that task. In
descending order the following priorities are available:
top, high, normal, low, bottom. (tasks only)
- The creation date is a read-only field and defaults to
the current date of your computer system. (tasks only)
- The due date of the task is an integral part of project
management and performance measurements. (tasks only)
- The percentage complete field is read only and
automatically updates based upon the completion of the
respective tasks. (project and templates only)
- The perpetual project election field designates the
project as a perpetual project that will initiate actions
on a repeating schedule. (project and templates only).
The general information screen for a project or template
includes a "Project Tasks" area and provides for the following
task related functionality :
- Cut, copy, paste, and copy as shared.
- Add new task.
- Add new dependent task and add dependencies.
- Update task status.
- View task details.
- Change the priority of one or more tasks (via the right-click menu).
- Renumber tasks (via the right-click menu).
The "Project Tasks" area includes task status toolbar icons
that can be toggled on or off to act as filters for the task
list display. For example, if you click to depress only the
"closed" icon, then only those tasks with a status of
"closed" are included on the list.
The following tasks status filters are available:
- Show Assigned
- Show Available
- Show Closed
- Show Suspended
- Show Waiting on Dependency
- Show Waiting on Form Submission
Right-clicking on the "Project Tasks" list pops up a menu that
provides an alternative method for accessing task related functionality,
as well as additional features.
- The "Change Priority to..." menu item allows you to change the
priority level of multiple, selected tasks.
- The "Renumber Tasks" menu item allows you to renumber the names
of selected tasks within the project. This feature determines if a
selected task name falls within an ordered format (begins with a
number followed by a ")"), and renumbers the selected tasks in
numberic order.
To access the general information tab do the
following:
- From the Inbox screen, select the
specific task then click on the "Details" button.
- From the Projects screen, select the
department or office-wide group where the project resides
in the Departments tree control list (the left pane),
select the desired project in the Projects display (the
right pane), then click on the "Details" toolbar icon.
- From the Project Template screen, select
the department or office-wide group where the template
resides in the Project Template tree control list (the left
pane), select the desired project template Templates
display (the right pane), then click n the "Details"
toolbar icon.
