Task Scheduler - Add Dependent Task
A dependent task must be added at the project level or
during project template creation.
Work on a dependent task cannot be started until work on its
dependency is completed. For example, an editor cannot read
and edit an article (the dependent task) until the article is
written (the dependency).
To add a dependent task follow these basic steps.
- While in the General tab of the Start Project or
existing Project Detail screens, or the Project Template
screen, click to select the existing task that is the
dependency (writing the article from the example above) in
the lower pane of the screen, then click on the "Dependent
Task" toolbar icon.
- The Task Details screen is displayed.
- Follow the same basic steps as provided for when adding
a new task.
To create a dependency for an existing task follow these
basic steps.
- While in the General tab of the Start Project or
existing Project Detail screens, or the Project Template
screen, click to select the existing task that you wish to
make dependent upon another task (editing and reading the
article from the example above).
- Click on the "Dependencies" toolbar icon.
- The Select Task dialog is displayed.
- Select the task that you wish to make the dependency
(writing the article from the example above).
Dependent Task Display
A dependent task is displayed with a unique icon and can be
easily distinguished from other tasks. To view the dependency
for a dependent task, position and rest the cursor over the
task as it is displayed on the list.
