Scanning Documents into a Digital File
If you have documents that are not saved on your computer's
hard drive or network, but want them to appear in the
client's digital file, you can scan the documents directly
into the digital file using the ContactManager scanning
feature.
To scan a document to a digital file
- Verify that your scanner is installed and functioning.
Click on the Change Scanner downward cursor to select your
previously established scanner source from the list. (Use
the Control Panel in your Windows operating system to
establish a scanner.
- Open a contact's digital file.
- Insert a document into the scanner. Depending on your
type of scanner, 1) the document will automatically scan or
2) click the Scan in an Item toolbar icon in the
digital file to initiate scanning.
- The Post-Scan Editor will appear and
allow you to crop, rotate and scan additional pages.
- Select a folder of your choice in the digital file when
the Select Print/Scan Destination dialog appears and click
OK.
- Notice that the scanned document is stored in the
contact's digital file as a .PDF file with today's date as
the title.
- Rename the .PDF file by right-clicking on the newly
created file and selecting Rename. The file name will
highlight and display a blinking cursor at the end of the
file name. Type in "Scanned.pdf" and press the Enter key.
The scanned document is now stored in the contact's digital
file as Scanned.pdf.
Note: You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view .PDF
files.
