Security - Remaster Encryption Keys
If you lose every PortalsXpress Encryption Key, you will
need to remaster the original key. In order to remaster an
Encryption Key, you must refer to the "answer" sheet you
completed (and hopefully stored in a secure location) when
you created the original Encryption Key.
To remaster an Encryption Key:
- Insert a blank USB storage key (or floppy disk) into
the USB port on your computer.
- From within the ContactManager skillset, click the
ContactManager pull-down menu.
- Select Remaster PortalsXpress Key.
- Complete the fields in the Remaster PortalsXpress Key
dialog. These "answers" need to exactly match those input
when you originally created the Encryption Key. You should
have stored the printout of these "answers" in a secure
location after creating the first and original Encryption
Key.
- Click OK. PortalsXpress will verify that the "answers"
input on the Remaster PortalsXpress Key dialog match those
previously entered when creating the first and original
Encryption Key.
- Once the information is verified, the newly remastered
key will be stored on the USB key or floppy disk
