Security - Create Encryption Keys
Only the Administrator of the WorkflowCentre
Account can create Encryption Keys. Therefore, once your
office decides to use encryption, the Administrator should
create an original Encryption Key, make a copy of that key
for authorized individuals in the office, and distribute the
key to appropriate office personnel. You can use either a USB
key, which you can find at any office supply store, or a
floppy disk.
To create an Encryption Key:
- Insert a blank USB storage key (or floppy disk) into
the USB port on your computer.
- From within the ContactManager skillset, click the
ContactManager pull-down menu.
- Select Create PortalsXpress Key.
- Complete the fields in the Create PortalsXpress Key
dialog.
- Click the Print button. Store the hard-copy of the
PortalsXpress Original Encryption Key "answers" in a safe
place in case you lose the original key. You will need
those same answers if you need to recreate the Original
Encryption Key. Note: We strongly recommend that you
keep the PortalsXpress Original Encryption Key "answers" in
a secure location in case you need to rekey the Original
Encryption Key.
- Click OK to save the key. The original key will be
stored on the USB key or floppy disk.
