Messenger Tabs - Send Tab The Send tab allows you to send a message to an individual
or an alias group.
Attaching a file to your message is easy to do. After clicking on the Attachments button, a common Windows dialog box will appear on your screen. At the "Look in" field, select the path (drive and folder) in which your file is located. You may click on the "Look in" field arrow to move up one level or to view the hierarchy of folders on your computer. In the large viewing area of the dialog, click to select the file that you wish to attach to your message. The name of your selected file will be displayed in the "File name" field. Click the Open button to attach the file to your message. You can also use the copy-as-shared feature from a contact's digital file or project files and then paste the item into Messenger's Send panel. Alternatively, you can also drag-n-drop either a digital item or a project from a contact's digital file or a project's related items into Messenger's Send panel. The drop or paste will insert a hyperlink into Messenger's Send panel text. When received, this link can be clicked on and it will open the digital item or project's details. After you have attached the file in one of the above ways, notice that the PortalsXpress Messenger Send tab now displays your file name below your message and that the Attachments button is highlighted. Simply click the Send button to send both your message and attachment. Contacts Name List The names that you see listed in the "To" field are the contact names of individual PortalsXpress members, after both you and they have granted contact permission. To grant another individual contact permission, access the "Messenger" pull-down menu, select "Settings" then click on the "Manage Contacts" button. This will take you to your PortalsXpress website where you can view and edit your "Contacts" and "No Contacts" lists. An additional way to add names to this list is to import individual names from the Address Book of your current e-mail program. This method also serves to automatically place these members on your approved correspondence Contacts list. It is a quick process for you and requires no effort on their part. Refer to your account at the www.portalsxpress.com website for step by step instructions. The contact names that you see listed in the "To" field are an alphabetical listing of any Aliases groups that you have created, followed by the individual member names. Smart Complete in the "To" field PortalsXpress uses "Smart Complete" to complete the member name that you are typing in the "To" fields. For example, if "john" and "jeremy" are listings on your drop-down list then by typing "jo", PortalsXpress automatically completes the field with "john" and by typing "je", PortalsXpress automatically completes the field with "jeremy". |
