Permission - Responding to a Permissions Request

Must I respond immediately to a new contact permissions request?
No, PortalsXpress wants you to address the request whenever it is convenient for you and the active red flag icon that signifies that a member is requesting to electronically correspond with you, remains available as a visible cue for you until that time.

What are the choices for my response to a permissions request?
When you choose to address a contact permissions request and click on the red flag contact request icon, PortalsXpress Messenger automatically takes you to the PortalsXpress website area specific for this information; the Request Editor. You are provided with the following selections:

  • Grant permission and allow contact.
  • Deny permission and prevent contact.
  • Delete the request.


If you select to grant permission, that individual is automatically placed on your approved Contacts list. PortalsXpress will not filter or restrict instant messages or e-mail from this individual or address.

If you select to deny permission, that individual is automatically placed on your No Contacts list. PortalsXpress will filter and refuse all instant messages or e-mail from this individual or address. This individual or address does not have access to another contact request form for you and will not be able to electronically correspond with you. You are in control of your contacts, the only way you will receive correspondence from someone that is listed on your No Contacts list is if you decide to move them to your approved Contacts list.

If you delete a request without granting or denying a request, that individual is not placed on either of your Contacts lists. That individual may send you another contact request at a later time.
