Messenger Tabs - Member's Status
A member's status is displayed in the In/Out List on the
Member Tab of PortalsXpress Messenger. The status is displayed
in icon and text format. The member can input additional text
if he or she so desires. For example, perhaps you wish to
sign out for lunch but would like to enter your cell phone
number as contact information.
PortalsXpress Messenger provides some convenient update
features. Providing that your status is set to "In",
PortalsXpress will automatically set your status to "Out" any
time that the program is shut down. This eliminates the need
for you to sign out at the end of the day. PortalsXpress also
provides an option checkbox that allows you to choose to
automatically set your status to "In" with the startup of
your computer. This option can be selected in the Settings
dialog, accessed through the Messenger pull-down menu.
To update the Status, do one of the following:
- Click on the on-line / off-line icon that is located in
the upper left corner of PortalsXpress Messenger,
- Click on the pull-down Messenger Menu then select
Update Your Status.
- Right click on your name in the In/Out List of the
Contacts Tab and select "Change Status" from the menu that
is provided.
You can control who has rights to change or update your
status in the In/Out List. To grant or deny an individual
permission to update your status, access the "Settings"
dialog from the "Messenger" pull-down menu, and then click on
the "Manage Contacts" button. This will take you to your
account at the www.portalsxpress.com website where you can
view and edit your Contacts list.
